Scented soy candles have become very popular over the last decade. This is in large part to the advantages of soy wax over other types of candlemaking wax. Curious about how a scented soy jar candle is made? This article describes the candlemaking process, points out the advantages of a scented soy candle and gives some tips on what to look for when purchasing a scented soy candle.
As with so many products, the quality of the ingredients going into the manufacturing process have a large impact on the final product. A standard jar candle begins with a clean, glass jar, 100% soy wax, a wick, any desired color and uncut scented oils. A scented soy candle can be made with soy wax that has been blended with paraffin and other types of wax, however, blended wax reduces the benefits of the soy wax. Scented soy candles made from 100% soy wax burn longer and cleaner than paraffin or beeswax candles. Choose 100% soy wax for the highest quality candle experience.
To make a candle, the soy wax is melted until it becomes a liquid. At this point, fragrance and any desired color is added to the wax. This ensures that the fragrance and color are uniformly distributed throughout the candlewax. Before the wax is poured in poured in the jar, the wick is inserted into the jar. The wick has a bit of adhesive to hold it in the center of the jar. The soy wax is poured into the jar and because the ingredients have all been premixed, the candle cools to a uniform color and scent.
